Sarah Gonsalves of Milton Keynes Council showcased MK:Smart at this major public sector conference on Monday 26 January.
Using data to ensure the sustainability Milton Keynes was Sarah’s focus at this event run by the Department for Communities and Local Government, Local Digital Programme. As Head of Performance and Policy at Milton Keynes Council, Ms Gonsalves discussed different themes relevant to MK:Smart, such as “how we will manage our water consumption given the 20% population growth predicted for our city by 2026?”. She also explored the impact of the city’s expansion on our transport network, and how our city would be encouraging movement away from our current car-centric infrastructure to a low carbon model.
The conference aimed to identify the key data-sharing needs and priorities of local authorities, and determine the most important steps that could be taken to ensure better outcomes for public service users through appropriate data-sharing. The event was part of the wider Local Digital Campaign which aims to bring together all those involved in public service transformation to help them work better together and deliver better, cheaper local digital services that people choose to use.
