The ‘Ask the Expert’ event showcased Milton Keynes’ Future Cities Programme and a variety of ‘Internet of Things’ and smart initiatives being developed in our city.

Geoff Snelson, Director of Strategy at Milton Keynes Council, and Dr Paul Sant, Associate Dean at UCMK described how Milton Keynes is leading the world in smart technology.

Dr Sant said,

“The event was a great success with many businesses indicating a real interest in getting involved with MK:Smart and the MK Future Cities Programme.”

They presented the work being carried out in MK:Smart, such as the MK Data Hub, to an audience who included members of Biztech, the business and technology forum for Milton Keynes and the South East Midlands region. Mr Snelson went on to provide a practical demonstration of the Internet of Things parking application, as well as a movement-sensing project developed by Paul Sant.

Organiser, Fredi Nonyelu, Chairman of Biztech added,

“It is fantastic to see Milton Keynes becoming a hub of innovation for Big Data. Now we want to see local companies formed and grow on the back of that for the benefit of the city and wider region.”
