MK:Smart wins “Best New Catalyst” award at TM Forum Live!

Best New Catalyst (2)The project was recognised at an international conference for its work on the MK Data Hub.

The Best New Catalyst Award recognises projects with innovative solutions to common challenges. TM Forum Live! 2015, put on by the international standards body for ICT management systems (TM Forum), was attended by approximately 4,500 industry experts from around the globe.

In 2015 there were 19 Catalyst projects, including submissions from IBM, Microsoft, AT&T, Verizon, Salesforce and others, mostly focusing on Smart City solutions and virtualised networks. The winning entry led by BT was entitled “Enabling the Smart City Digital Ecosystem.” This featured the MK Data Hub with an enabling Service Management element providing additional features such as monetisation of the information feeds and applications.

John Wittgreffe, Gary Bruce, and Richard Wiseman represented the project at the conference from 1 June to 4 June 2015. John Wittgreffe, BT ICT Chief Researcher, said “We are highly delighted to win this award amidst a set of very high quality projects from a strong calibre International field. The TM Forum awards are highly respected in our industry due to the stringent and independent nature of the judging and this is a real prize.”   Gary Bruce, Catalyst lead added “This shows just what’s possible with a fantastic team effort across The Open University, UCMK, BT and all the data hub partners”
