This week our Project Director, Enrico Motta spoke at an international strategic conference dedicated to utilities in Vienna.
The conference, entitled European Utility Week included over 500 utility representatives from across the continent. Professor Motta spoke as part of the Smart Cities work-stream of the event. This was a great opportunity to promote the project on the international commercial stage. He presented a data-intensive approach to open innovation and focused on demonstrating how new intelligent solutions can tackle stress points in the city infrastructure to ensure that the forecast growth is sustained.
This Smart City element of the conference was particularly concerned with a number of key questions such as: What are the key policy and economic issues influencing the development of smart cities? How are cities and utilities working together to meet the new energy challenges facing cities? And what are the new services and business models emerging for utilities in smart cities?
For another opportunity to learn more about MK:Smart, Alan Fletcher will be speaking at Innovate UK on 9th November 2015. This event, hosted by the Department for UK Trade and Investment (UKTI), is a chance for innovators, international investors and buyers, government and academia to network and present their work.
