The project team, friends and VIPs alike gathered in the BT Tower’s famous 34th floor revolving rotunda, to take in the spectacular 360 degree views and celebrate the closing of Milton Keynes’ first cohesive Smart City project.
The event included a showcase of MK:Smart’s three years, including (but not limited to) the MK Data Hub, the technical data infrastructure at the heart of MK:Smart, the innovative transport, energy and water applications designed to tackle key demand issues in the city, as well as our ground-breaking work with the local community, schools, and SMEs.
Speeches led by Chris Sims, BT Managing Director – Marketing and IoT, commenced at 18:30, followed by Peter Marland, Milton Keynes Council Leader, and Kevin Hetherington, Pro-Vice-Chancellor at The Open University.
Enrico Motta, MK:Smart Project Director concluded the speeches by acknowledging the immense talent and hard work invested in the project by its 21 partners, and identifying the unusual connection of “industry, government and academia [in working] together” to create such a successful project.
Celebrations continued with drinks, canapés and networking against the breath-taking backdrop of a dusky London.
